    All-time Greatest DOS Games Evar!

So I moved several weeks ago and just minutes ago decided to go through the stacks of CDs I'd packed, looking for some music to listen to, when fate had me pick up the MechWarrior II CD. I'd forgotten I even still owned the game. So I pulled it out and I'm listening now.

And holy crap the music is taking me back across time back to when I first played this game! The memories flooding back are blowing me away, DAMN THIS GAME ROCKED BACK IN ITS DAY! I can almost taste the explosion of a well-timed missile! I don't know how crappy the sequels got as I never played past MW2 Mercenaries, maybe someone can educate me on that.

Anyway I'm posting this because I thought it was high time for an "appreciation thread" for all of the greatest DOS games that ever lived! I'll start off the list with the two old favorites I just mentioned!

    - MechWarrior II
    - MechWarrior II: Mercenaries
    - Descent (damn I remember pissing off my parents tying up the phone line playing this modem to modem with my high school buddies! those were the days!)

    Good call...Descent was awesome!

Xwing/Tiefigher: Loved the dogfights. Shooting down A-wings was impossible.

Wolftenstein 3D: Had fun killing those blue suit guys who sounded like Kermit the Frog when they yelled

Doom 2: loved the soundtrack and the levels much more than Doom 1; my introduction to 14,400 modem MP fragging

Magic Carpet 2: Flying around as a kid was so fun. I want to play this on my new machine.

Alone in the Dark: What a scary and exciting game.

    lol Falcon 3.0 FTW!

I remember my friend had that game and a newer computer than I had, so I came over to his house to play it!

Also Wolf3D was so freaking cool, well it was so freaking cool till I played Doom.

    Sim Ant anyone?

I really enjoyed Sim Ant, I don't know why. Because my colony always got owned by the red ants, those bastards.

Whoa...there was a PC version of North and South?

I loved the NES version, but had no idea there was a DOS version.
