That explains the pistol headshots from one end of the map to the other!
Not much larger, shooting at a player standing still the average player wouldn't be able to detect anything. It's all in the movement. When you're running with lag, predictions and calculations are made to determine your effective location, this leads to inaccuracies. Unless you play competitively, you really need not be concerned about it.

Here's the popular Youtube video that's been out forever: CS:S hitboxes demo

I'd still play original CS if I really wanted to play competitively, but even though the hitboxes are bad in Source, I still enjoy the game a lot.

About the hitboxes----it seems (according to that youtube video) that the hitboxes are about the same size as your character but definitely not in the right place. That's a problem but............your opponent is only seeing your character and not the actual hitbox, correct? If so, then..............if I'm standing very close to a corner my opponent won't necessarily see me but if he shoots blindly at the corner he could kill me. Is that what these messed-up hitboxes allow for?

and don't forget to modify your game to your taste with all the awesome skins and sounds at fpsbanana. That's a big reason I've enjoyed CS:S..the customization of the game to how I like it.

i run mine vanilla, no skins or sounds, most of the decent servers don't allow them anyway

but it is a hackers delight on some servers, very disappointing

alot of the game, as others have said, is knowing how long destination points take to get to, then you can take pot shots through objects and get kills
