My son is playing on the server now occasionally. I think I'll have him make a Sharky account so he can participate in your Mine-speak because I have no idea about any of it. I just know when I see him play - he's usually running for his life because I've instructed him to find a desolate area and not tear up anyone elses stuff. So he doesn't mine anything. I think the main thing he needs to know is - is there a way to fast travel or locate specific areas (such as Jamestown). He's always around this one large house? or whatever with an orange wall outside of it.
Yeah....I think he needs to make an account on here.
There's a portal system setup in the basement of the main base. The main base is located behind 'James Tower' which is the large office-building looking thing in the middle of the map. The nether portals are marked with signs and should be easy to use for your son. I suggest he takes a run around Jamestown, the Castle grounds, MK tower as those are all in the same area and easily explored one after the other. There are some other cool things all around but they take some time to get to and some need more instruction then others to find.
I need to actually take a night off of playing games and do "serious business" with mcedit. I would be interested to see how granular I could get. I know I've been saying this for weeks, but I do now finally have the tool, and I've opened it and played for maybe 5 minutes. Give me a few hours with it and we'll see what I can do.
As an aside, I'm also perfectly happy keeping the old map. One of the things I thought we would never get was a ender portal, but according to linoleum, we not only have one, but it's already been used.

Any news James? I'm really waiting on a new map to get on the server again.
Right now, I am going to officially say: New map on hold.
For a few reasons.
1. Work has been a bit crazier than originally though.
2. I've started Borderlands 2 in the free time that I have.
*Edit: If someone else would like to play and mess around with the map, I will gladly put a link to a zipped copy of it. It is currently around 987MB in size when in a tar.bz2 file.

I haven't logged into Minecraft since BL2 hit the scene. As for the new map, I've found a different map editor that I want to play with (courtesy of a coworker).
