Minecraft, awesome one man game project

I just saw this on youtube and it looks awesome. Every time you start a game the entire world is randomly generated based on certain natural laws which organically create natural wonders such as cave systems, waterfalls, mountains, forests, etc. You are then placed within this world and you must go around collecting resources so you can make a shelter before night falls because monsters come out. You then create items and customize your house while you wait out the night. Then during the day you try to expand your area with more houses near rarer resources. Eventually you build up your resources enough so you can craft weapons and armor which let you battle the monsters. its totally open world and it looks very interesting.

Check out this guy playing the game to get an overview:

The really cool part is that it is a single guy that made it and he is constantly updating it. You can play the trial version for free but to get the monsters and "career" mode you have to support him by paying 13 bucks for the alpha version. This will give you access to all future updates as well.

Now this is a super indie game.

I'll probably be buying it and checking it out tomorrow.

I was really hoping it would be like a survivor man/Man Vs. Wild type game, but he said that you need shelter to protect yourself from skeletons and zombies during the night. That part was a great disappointment.

This has been all over Reddit for the past few weeks.

It's a cool comp sci project, but I wouldn't actually play it.

I think I just played for 2 hours straight, the game is stupidly addictive. I left my safe little home and started exploring the wilderness in search of ADVENTURE and also iron ore. I found some iron and also a cave full of zombies and skeletons that brought me down to 1 heart. :O

I stabbed them good then ran back home and got me some ham.

Haha. I found some iron and just found, I think gold. Im smelting it down right now. I made my home a cave and just blocked off the entrance at night. If you make torches the baddies won't bother you as much.

OH MAN, so I found some diamond beneath my house and crafter a diamond pick and a diamond sword then went out into the world to find more iron to make armor.

I found a huge cave that went on and on and had a ton of iron and even gold! As I went deeper I started to hear zombie sounds. Being adventurous, I took out my pick and started digging in the direction of the sounds but to no avail; every time I thought I was getting close, the moaning would fade. Finally I realized the sound was coming from below, so I picked at the floor and immediately fell through to another cavern beneath me. The light from the torch above illuminated a small area around where I was.

    I was surrounded by zombies.

NO! I pulled out my diamond sword all too late as I was struck down by this horde of zombie doom. I spent the next 30 minutes searching for the cave that contained my corpse and all the phat l3wts I had on me. I could not find this cave again.

If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
