ATI 6950 to 6750 mod. auto fan control?

is there a utility to control the fan of my RAdeon 69xx card when it reach a certain termperature?

    I did the mod successfully
unlocking the shaders and overclocking to 20% but the problem is for some reason ATI over drive don't increase speed of the fan when the GPU gets hotter. and in some games it crashes it.

I can set it to manually make fan faster but that increase the noise and it's a PITA to manually turn on/off faster fan.

is there any app that aotmatically make the fan faster as the GPU heats up?

this is like a no brainer. not sure why ATI don't do it.

My advice is two prong, first if you flashed with a 6970 bios, hurry up and reflash with a modded 6950 bios to enable the locked shaders, but keep voltages and ram timings at stock. Allot of people have been killing their cards, because the 6950 memory is not rated to run at 6970 speed and timings, resulting in damage to the ram.

If you do flash to a modded 6950 bios, get and Asus bios and download smart doctor, it will do what you want.

My Gigabyte 6950 flashed/w Asus bios runs great and pretty cool at 840/1300 (no voltage tweeks) at aroud 65c or less under normal game load. (I also keep the fan at 50% constant)

thanks in advance you can send it to:

btw: what is the speed difference between flashing it to 6970 +20% OC
and the 6950 unlocked shader + 20% OC?

http://www.hardforums.com/showthread...post1036643850. Goto post 248, there is a link in his post to the bios.
The big difference is with the ram. On the 6970 the ram is obviously clocked higher but also the timings are tighter. The 6950 ram is rated at 5000mhz while the 6970 is 6000. Overall voltages are higher and the cooling solution on the 6950 is not as efficient leading to very high temps. My temps were over 90c with the 6970 BIOS. I believe performance is pretty close when comparing the 6970 bios and 6950 bios at equivalent clocks.

I didn't exactly read anything about someone killing their ram/videocard on that forum I read from P12 all the way to p19

I don't think mine went that high even at 6970 +20% OC.

    will continue to read

I am come across posts of people saying they did, but I am not sure where. But the temp difference was more than enough reason for me to go back to the modded 6950 bios.

after reading further. it do seems some people are getting their cards go bad after the mod.

anyway I got the modded asus 6950 with shaders unlocked bios. and v1.17 voltage.

I manage to OC the card to 910mhz core and 1400mhz Memory and seems to run fine.

but for some reason smartdoctor don't keep my OC setting after a reboot (yes there's an option to have it keep setting but it don't seem to work)

Try the MSI afterburner. You won't have voltage control with the application until the new version is officially released, but it will control GPU/RAM overclocking and has functional fan control.
