    What OS version?
Have you tried mapping a network share to a local drive letter?
    Some programs require it.

Have you enabled the sharing of the folders you want in the Windows 7 Sharing/Network center?

Sorry if that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, not in front of a win7 box atm.

Look at the security properties for the folder and files using File Explorer.

It's great. Plays everything although it seems to have issues with DTS (at least in the MKVs I've thrown at it). It has a major 3rd party firmware scene which highly extends the base software. I "own" 3 of them although 2 of them are at my parents' houses. Easy to use interface, streams netflix and youtube, plays everything, supports 1080p. Hard to beat for $100.

I hate the Seagate one though, I bought 2 of them and they were both garbage, both flickered at 1080p for whatever reason. Also the interface wasn't nearly as nice as the WDTV.
There is the theory of the moebius. A twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop.
