All of these phones make carrying a P&S camera redundant. Both the Razr and the iPhone went with greater megapixel rates to combat the fact that Samsung uses a better quality lens.

Here is a pretty unbiased report, that notes the 4S does better in low light. In regular light, the Galaxy outperforms the 4S.

And even if all that was equal, the not being able to change the battery would still be a dealbreaker for me. OS is a matter of opinion.
Hardware is irrelevant when comparing a compiled software platform to a JIT platform. Doubly so when it comes to third party applications.

Half of the processing power on an Android device is wasted on intricate Java ********. From a software engineering perspective Android is an abomination.

IMO, the only one who has any idea what they are doing is Amazon. They've taken Android and said, "This code is mostly ****. Take what works, delete everything else, and rebuild it so that hit runs well on this specific piece of hardware. The UI is also inconsistent crap. Fix it." They did. The Kindle Fire is the only Android device I've used that actually feels like it "competes" with iOS.

not even close... by far the best phone camera is the one in the nokia n8. the one in the iphone 4(s) (which is actually manufactured by sony) is on par with other back-lit sensor phones such as the galaxy s2 and the mytouch slide 4g

The battery issue is what keeps me from buying any Apple portable device.
Battery life is half of what marketing specifies and then one is SOL unless there is wall power handy. Wall power and portable do not mix.

That said, I actually use my phone. That is something Apple users don't/can't do. Typically I change my battery twice and sometimes 3 time a day with my Galaxy S phone which is more efficient than an iPhone. Voice and data are used at least 6 hours per day. Wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS are always on and used throughout the day. I use Bluetooth to sync mail (50 - 100 emails per day), calendar and tasks with Outlook 2010 on my laptop throughout the day.

If the iPhone had a replaceable battery I would give it a try, but not until then.

I have a kindle fire, and I like it. Galaxy runs much smoother.

I prefer Android for the fact that it has an extremely deep UI and you can customize the crap out of it. Even with a jail broken Iphone you are not getting half of the customization you get with an Android phone. I also dont like being forced to use proprietary software. What if I dont want to use itunes? Thats a bunch of crap. I want my own experience, not the experience Apple tells me to have and the same experience that every single other person using an iphone has. Its my phone, I want it to do what I want it to and look the way I want it to. Sure the iphone is incredibly smooth and super easy to use, but its just locked down too damn tight. Not to mention a lack of flash support.

And arguing over the camera? Im mean seriously, even if the iphone camera is better, its not that much better and its not like its going to get you through photography school or something. No one is gonna toss their $2000 Nikon in the trash just because they bought an iphone 4s. They all take good pictures....

Apple dosent seem to like any competition. Half of their patents are so incredibly vague and they try to sue anyone and anything they can. Of course everyone is copying them, they are copying everyone else too. Its call buisness and it has always happened like that. Like no phone had a slide to unlock feature before the iphone...yeah right. Suing HTC over clickable links...sheesh...im sure some of you guys had phones that did that before the iphone came out. Whats next? Suing everyone for having speaker phone?

    Sorry for my rant.

Well at least someone else understands it... Android is a far cry from iOS. Saying "OS is a matter of opinion" doesn't change the fact that iOS is just a much more polished and finished OS.

Screen size is irrelevent too. Who gives a crap if Android phones have monster screens? The 3.5" screen on the iPhone is infinitely usable. If you're all so gung ho about big screens why aren't you carrying around tablets? Big phones look ridiculous held up the face. Remember that sidetalking thing? Same deal.

I do kind of want a Galaxy Nexus for the screen though. 720p in your pocket. I mean, HD porn looks great on my iPhone, but I imagine that it must look even better on a larger 720p screen.

I'm still waiting to see what the next iPad's resolution is. Will I be able to watch porn in 1080p? That is the question to end all questions. I'm going to just sell iPads pre-loaded with nothing but high quality HD porn and call them Fappads. Comes with 64GB of porn pre-installed. No need to mess with torrents and download times. Just turn it on and you're good to go.

it is a much more finished and polished OS. But it still is incredibly restrictive and locked down. Its a bit of a double edged sword IMHO. Its great for people who dont give a crap about anything else besides a phone that does everything they need it for and its easy. But if your someone who has that need to tweak and customize and personalize.....your SOL. Either way, iOS, Android and Win7 phones all do the same thing. They all take pictures and video, text, chat, facebook, send emails....so it is a matter of personal preference on the OS. ITS THE ONLY THING SEPERATING THEM.

And screen size is completely relevent. I dont wanna tiny screen dammit haha. It does make a difference, especially when you are trying to work on it or read without sticking it 2 inches from your face. Its just a matter of preference. Some people like a smaller screen. You are clearly one of them. I want and need a bigger screen. Tablets are too big to carry around the same as a phone obviously. There definetly is too big though. Good thing bezel size is going down. You can basically fit a 4.5 or 4.7" screen into the same size case as an older phone with a 4.3" screen and still be thinner. Its crazy awesome. My phone fits perfectly in my pocket and its not huge when i hold it up to my ear. I dont see what the problem is.

Its not like I hate apple products. They are nice looking with a solid OS and perform really nice. Honestly, if they werent so locked down, had flash support, didnt force me to use stupid itunes and had a bigger screen...I would be all over it. But its that lack of choice that pisses me off. Ill deal with a crappier OS to have what I want. You might not care but I do. Mabey they will amaze me with the next iphone and I may jump

edit: im not trying to fight with you or anything just so you know lol. i do like talking about these things and its always nice to hear someone else take on things from the other side of the fence

One thing about the Iphone that bugs me is...why no sd card slot? Why no removable battery? Even cheap flip phones that do nothing have sd card slots. There is no real reason not to have it other than charging 100 bucks for each 16 gig of storage.

I've owned about a dozen phones since the mid 90s and I've never owned a second battery for any of them. I did replace the battery in one but battery technology has improved a long ways. I'll replace the iPhone before I need to replace the battery. It seems to be some sort of common complaint (especially from ua) but I often wonder how much of it is simply people finding something they can latch onto as a "missing necessity."

I do agree about the microSD card slot but there are a variety of reasons against it, from Apple's perspective. The obvious one is money made on selling extra space, but there's also issues with security, user interface, the real point of an SD card at all and why the average person would need it, and so on. Apple builds a closed playpen and they control all the entrances and exits. This is what allows iOS be so polished in the first place.

Moreso than the iPhone the real place I think an SD card slot is really lacking is on the iPad. But the same issues apply. SD cards allow the bypass of iTunes which allows a variety of problems to pop up in Apple's ecosystem.

While I dont use my extra battery every day, I probably do about twice a week. I did buy a higher capacity battery for about 25 bucks that lasts about 50% longer than the
original. when I know ill need it I charge the other and keep it handy. The SD this is purely to charge 100 bucks for 16 gigs of storage. One nice feature of the galaxy 2 is thumb drives and other usb devices can plug right in.

It's no match for Siri and its far superior Wolfram Alpha integration, that's for certain.
