    Sharky's Skyrim Thread (Merged)

Giantbomb is doing a 12 hour Skyrim "let's play" on the Thursday before the release. Greg Kasavin is doing the playing (you may remember him from the 12 hour Oblivion "let's play" before Obivion's release he also was the lead designer on Bastion.) I'll be watching a bit on and off. Supposedly he won't be doing much of the campaign line, so not many spoilers.

It's not on the site yet, they just announced it in their Live broadcast going on right now. I can't wait for skyrim!

Am I glad I caught your thread!!!!! This sounds like a neat event. I'll tune in as much as I can. I'm actually off Thursday so it works out well for me. I have to do a few errands so I won't catch it all but I'll watch a lot of it. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

I just love Giantbomb's commentary and Greg hasn't done anything like this since he started Super Giant Games over 2 years ago, so I'm pretty pumped just to hear the banter .

There's not much to spoil in an Elder Scrolls game haha, the story always blows ***.

I wouldn't say that, it's just usually so short and open-ended compared to most games, which means there's less cinematic plot development.

As far as spoilers go, I can see what dimmy means. It's not so much plot, as just characters and locations. There is something to be said for seeing some truly breathtaking sights (even in digital form) for the first time.
Skyrim, like all Elder Scrolls, will probably have some amazing sights and characters that are more enjoyable being completely new and unexpected.

    Not to mention enemies.

I agree. I'm certainly not going to watch 12 hours of it, but I wouldn't mind catching an hour or so to get me pumped up. I can't wait to see what it looks like, although I've heard the textures aren't anything to write home about.

    yeah, its mostly the monsters.
When I got Oblivion, I had never played a game like that before.
meeting a new monster is kinda thrilling. plus seeing the weather change...amazing.

    i'm psyched for skyrim !

He tried to sneak up on a giant awhile ago and it turned around and one shot him and threw his body 20 yards lol. Stuff certainly doesn't scale the same way as oblivion thank god!

Eurogamer gave it a perfect 10/10.

I'm not sure such a thing like that could exist.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Wow, the reviews are excellent. GB gave it a perfect score as well. GS gave it a 9.0, but they only talk about weird scripting and some bugs as negatives. The day one patch is supposed to fix a lot of stuff.

    So we have,

    IGN 9.5
    GS 9.0
    GB 5/5
    1UP A-
    Jim Sterling 10/10

So far, it seems like the game is definitely living up to the series, but I don't think we had any doubts.
