    Question Video Card running HOT!

See machine specs in sig line...My EVGA GTX560Ti VC goes HOT really fast. Reaches 85C in 65 seconds on testing. Playing COD 4 MD it goes up and stays up. I am looking for ideas to cool this down. No other cards on MoBo so it has plenty of space. Four 120mm case fans. I am using a 24inch Dell IPS LCD monitor (high resolution)...if I reduce the resolution, will that help bring temps down? Would installing a second card and running SLI reduce temperatures? I am looking for any suggestions...thanks

Compare with other people what temps they are running on those cards, if you are in the same area don't worry about it.

It does not strike me as excessive, GPU's do run hot.

If you are much higher then everybody else, try to increase fanspeeds with MSI afterburner.

Great free program that I recommend downloading either way.

If that still doesn't drop temps, your heatsink might have come of and has to be reseated, unless you are out of warrenty I would let the manufacturer handle that.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

85c doesnt sound too hot to me if you are using a reference cooler... i think my old radeon 4850 hit 90-100 regularly and that was considered normal

Yup, 560Ti's are on the hot Fermi chip, so there is nothing you can do. My 470 ran at 90+ until I watercooled it. The max safe temp is 99C from nvidia's spec sheet.

If you really must reduce temps, you are going to need a new cooler. SLI will not help things, that just puts two hot cards right next to each other. You can look into an arctic cooler or go watercooling. The arctic cooler will run around 50 dollars and may drop your temps 10C. A waterblock + radiator + pump + accessories would drop your temps to 35-40C, but it will cost ya!

I used the EVGA Precision software to manually configure my fan speed...I was able to drop my temperatures to max at 77C so far. It is good to hear what others are running (temp wise). thanks for the input!
