Man, I played Eve Online for months and never mined a single asteroid. **** that weird stereotype.
I was joking, but I do dislike Eve always coming up when I discuss this idea (not just here.) Eve is fun and all, but not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about this taking place on a world, with characters and such. If you guys are cool with instancing, that's fine, I understand that. I'm not interested in an MMO that does that stuff anymore though.

I played Tera which was okay but not very engaging. GW2 looks to be really fantastic.
I didn't get to play the beta as much as I wanted this weekend, but I did get up to level 8 or 9 and enjoyed what I played. Definitely has a lot of potential. I'm now thinking about getting it on release instead of ignoring it like I have been.

I was invited for a weekend beta event. I don't know how often they run these weekend. SWTOR had the same beta weekend process.
I think betas where you can play whenever you want until release are fading away.
SWTOR's beta weekends were late in the beta process, to stress test the servers under load. There was a separate beta process going on more-or-less continually for several months before that.
