History of Sharkyextreme
I haven't been around much the last 4-5 years. With that in mind I initially joined this forum as I was like the rest of you - always trying to get the most of our components and being the first to reach the 1MHz threshold. With that said I never really understood what really happened w/ Sharkyextreme. I do remember something about the original owner of the site (Sharky himself?) selling the domain around 2006 or so. Can anyone in the know give me a quick history of the website?
Also who is the head mod here. Is it megasomething still? Like I said, I haven't been around much lately.

Same question was recently asked here: http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthread.php?t=324269
JPnyc moved on to greenier pastures last March. UA549 and I filled in on several of his sites.

Thanks Steve. Damn what's the chance someone asked the same question just a week or so ago?

There's a chance you're psychic. Time to report to S.I.C.O.N. at 0800 and get tested.

Or the other person is super psychic and posted a week earlier to make you think Boneycat was psychic to throw you off of the trail of the true psychic.

That's nefarious. Obviously one or the other will be making a play for hegemon soon. Time to find my silver hat.

Pfft, after re-looking at the other thread it was asking about Sharkyforums, while I was asking specifically about Sharkyextreme.

They're a lump deal really. After the sale it hung on for a while, but without Ross at the helm the articles slowed down and eventually dried up to just price guides.
When I came on as a mod Housen was leading things up. Rich took over for a few years then JPNyc held the reigns for a good long while, and most recently the highest in the food chain that we'll ever actually have contact with is UA549 and Steve R.
Timeline:
March 2001: Alex's original goodbye was back in March of '01. I thought it was even earlier really.
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/private_eye/9/
April 2001: We had an editor for the sharkyextreme site named Jayson Mathews not long after Alex left officially: http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthread.php?t=112883
April 5 2002: Housen Maratouk moved on to greener pastures. Just to note, Housen was awesome and I hope he's well.
April 15 2002: Around mid April we were introduced to Richard Hein. Rich was our internet.com managing editor who came in to admin the forums
2003-2004: I was way more inactive than I should have been while working on school and handling a 9-5 so I don't know a lot of the details from this period and just about wound up demodded.
January 21 2005: Joe Palermo who was our JPNyc came on and held the reins until recently before moving on.
May 2011: Lots of changes as internet.com restructured. We lost CaTaLYST who had outlasted the last 10 years of ownership as an admin. We also saw UA549 and Steve R Jones take over as our local assistant admins for the forums here and in a few other places.

Reason: Guess I should merge this with the other history thread at some point soon. Got carried away digging through old history.

Great to see you stop by Alex. Loving the porsche tweaks
If you've got any memories to add or edit from the info above I'd love to hear it. We don't have enough history cleanly written out about the old days. Too bad we never promoted a historian.
