Unique Case with a Hefty Price

I was browsing at Newegg when I came across this awesome looking case by Thermaltake (A New Arrival). The only problem is with the hefty price of 8 bills +. It's a nice looking case but they can keep it for that price: BTW, they do have a limit of 5 per customer (5 x 850 = $4250)!

Until very recently, this case was only available from newegg when purchased as part of their $5K 'combo deal' on that page.

There are some darned nice cases available for half the price of that one, including fancy home theatre cases with built-in lcd displays. I do like the looks of this case, but imo it's a couple of hundred too expensive - at least, at that price it should be available in a choice of anodized colors imo.

Also, I've read of problems with standard cable lengths not reaching between compartments, and certain popular cpu coolers not fitting into it.

And, well, since it is "BMW designed", at least they could have included a BMW badge and a kidney-shaped fan grill in the front somewhere, to impress my friends and strike fear into my enemies lol

I just thought this was a very unique looking case. I wouldn't pay $850 for a case unless I was building a server, then I might pay $850-$1000 depending on the case.

My most recent build received a new case. I haven't upgraded my case for several years. My last case was a Mid-Tower SuperFlower case. This SuperFlower case is still a very nice looking and very functional case that I paid $200 locally for. I just decided that I wanted to build from the bottom up this time, so I did. I'm Very Satisfied with my new case! I think I paid $200 Shipped and it's now being sold at Newegg for $179.99 + 29.99 for shipping. Here is the link for my new case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119138&Tpk=cooler%20master%20cosm os1000%20case This is a really nice Full-Tower case and has many great features. There is an optional side panel that has an Acrilic Window available for $29.99 & free shipping. I'm thinking about purchasing this side panel. My system has a Zalman 9700NT heatsink w/Green LED. This would give my room a really calming green glow. I do also have the Green Glow coming from my SuperFlower case with a Green Cold Cathode and 2 x 120mm Green fans. The Green is a very mild light compared to Blue lights. Here is a link to see my Computers: http://www.bugspop1.50megs.com/ The Main-Computer is my Newest with the CoolerMaster Case and the Second Computer is the SuperFlower case. In the pictures of my second computer there are 2 x 120mm Thermaltake Fans sitting on a CoolerMaster Gemin II HeatSink, this thing is huge!

That's a pretty cool looking case. Here's a Link to a Review of the Level 10.

BTW: bugsbop1, you did purchase a nice case.. I was looking at that one myself but opted for another Lian-Li for modding reasons.

What an amazing case. I wonder how those 3.5" drive bays work with 2.5" SSDs though. Would you have to get super short cables to run from the hotswap plugs to the SSD mounted in a 2.5->3.5 adapter?

    TAZTG,
Thanks for the link, awesome reading. I think I now like this case even more than I did when I posted this link. At $850, I'm still not running out to purchase one!

As for my CoolerMaster Cosmos Case, I like it more now than I did when I purchased it too! I thought I'd never find a case I liked more than my SuperFlower Case. This CoolerMaster case has all of the features of my SuperFlower plus much more. To top it off it's a Full Tower, lots of room to work! I think I'm still going replace the 5 x 120mm CoolerMaster Case Fans with 5 x 120mm CoolerMaster Green LED Fans. I think there is also room to add 1 more 120mm fan, so I might add an extra fan blowing over the Hard Drive cages totaling 6 x 120mm fans. BTW, this is the best job of wire management I've ever done. I assume it's because of this case. The case makes it easy to run your cables behind the motherboard tray. I've never been great in the cable management department and I give this case an A- in this department. I'm thinking about purchasing at least 1 more of these CoolerMaster cases, if not 2.

    I got this one:

My last build went together faster and neater than ever. It is a little wider than your average case though. I have plenty of room so its no big deal.

Cool case in a Star Trekkish kind of way...

My last rebuild, I changed everything BUT the case...
    Now it's a wolf in sheep's clothing... a beige, 10-year old Antec mid-tower.

    I have three desktop computers.

    AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Dual-Core @ 3.0Ghz

Saw that case in a review that was in either MaximumPC or CPU magazine... can't remember which one.

I don't mind paying a lot for a wicked case, but that one doesn't intrigue me in the least.

Last wickedly cool, and wickedly expensive case that I saw and wanted was the Zalman TNN-500A "heatsink" case:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...uting,741.html

Unfortunately, only for Pentium 4 systems. Was $1,400 in it's day.

Would be cool if somebody made a version of this today for modern hardware!

I used to play around with higher-end cases, but it got real expensive real fast! My first high-end case was the excellent SilverStone TJ03 Temjin, still have it though it's on loan to my nephew. Here's an old pic of it -

Note that I was in that bling bling phase back then, I had the original side panel modded with a window (above pic) as well as purchased the optional windowed side panel from SS.

Next came my 'mini-fridge', Tt Mozart TX, full alu chassis (there's a part alu/steel combo which was cheaper and heavier). It's now being used to house my HTPC and I'm happy to report it's doing one damn fine job of it.

It's not so colorful now, I'm using Scythe 120mm white LED fans only.

Last but not least came my most expensive case, Soldam XR1 Black Knight (I think opstar refers to me as being the only one here with a Jap made case), here are some pics, 2x 140mm case fans in front (pic below) -

If you'd look carefully, just to the left of the HDD cage, you can just make out 2x 120mm fans to help move cool air to the mobo/vid card (below)

Here are a couple of product shots from the manufacturer -

I'd also gotten the Silencer from Soldam (pic below), plus the Bayleaf optical disc cover (no pic of it) to complete the look

Edit - Please note that these are some pretty old pics as I've not bothered to update pics of my rigs.....just perpetually stuck in this lazy rut.
