Holy smokes. That's amazing. In a way I feel jilted because of just spending an extra 30 bucks a few days ago, but then again: w00t! $1/GB for a fast SSD. Might have to pick up another one.

The Crucial M4 256gb is $200 now (Newegg, etc).

    This is also sub-$1/GB.

Do any of the raid controllers support trim yet? I heard it was coming but I can't seem to find anything to see if ever happened

Intel's onboard (PCH) soft-RAID supports passing TRIM to RAID0 and RAID1 only, IIRL. Nobody at this point in time supports passing TRIM to any array via a hardware controller-based solution, or for anything higher than RAID1.

Interesting graphic from a recent Anandtech article about the new ADATA SSD:

Seems we are starting to hit $1/GB as a new balance point.

Since I started this thread, SSD prices have continued to dive and dive hard.

You can now get a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 480GB SSD for $380. That's $.79/GB!!!

I am loving the fact that high performance, high capacity SSD storage is becoming extremely reasonable.
*Edit: I think my next thread will have to be "Sub $.50/GB for <newSSD here>"

ive reverted back to a single 256gb drive (samsung 830).... ive basically come to the conclusion that for real world use even a first generation indilinx drive (ocz vertex) is more than adequete.. you will not see any day to day differences with a bleeding edge setup

Picked up a Samsung 830 when they went on sale for around 160ish before 840 (Pro) release. What a difference!

With Windows 8 there's barely any boot time. Skyrim fully modded with HD texture packs loads in about 2 seconds, and no micro-stuttering. Love it so far!

I'm eyeing an 840 Pro for my next SSD upgrade. My mushkin chronos deluxe 240GB is great in my laptop, but I think i want to try something different in my desktop. (Still currently running on my "old" X25-M G2. Still works great)
