Hmm...idk. Are you saying that you installed ram that was laying around in a new Dell system and it's failing memtest? Does it fail with only the stock mem? I prob wouldn't leave it like that myself.
You could try running the built-in Dell diagnostic. I've got some Dell laptops that are having some RAM issues and they keep failing during the first march test that tests the RAM. If there are issues you may get an error from the diagnostic, like I did, indicating a memory integrity error. There is also a Logs option in the BIOS that retains some of that diagnostics data that you can check.

still seems to run fine. I can't do a dell diagnostic as I don't have any of the CD and I do my usual fresh format and completely new installation on the HD.
