Best 10-12" display laptop <$500?

500 is the absolute limit, hoping for more in the 300-400 range. Can you guys recommend a few different laptops from a few different companies?

iPad. You can probably get a refurb iPad 2 right now for $350 or maybe even $300

or if you really need a $400 12" laptop i guess 11.6" netbooks are slightly more bearable than the 10" ones, look at the HP dm1, Asus R252, Acer 722, all of these are pretty much identical and kind of crappy but bearable
