Where am I bottlenecked?
I got my system upgraded but I don't think it is running properly. It seems a lot slower than it should be. I ran 3dmark06 and got about 18,000 which is about half the highest scores. I didn't think that was a big deal since it is a synthetic benchmark. But I have been playing Call of Pripyat and my frame rates are running 60-90. I have a 740BE@3.2ghz with 4 cores running/crossfired 1 gb 5850/4gigs PC1600 memory/WinXP SP3. Tomshardware has crossfired 6850's running 139. Crossfired 5850's should be a little faster than 6850's.

Maybe because of no DX10? I'm not sure how 3dMark calculates its scores, but WinXP is very dated now...

Honestly I would also vote for either Windows XP, or the CPU. Unless you are directly comparing to other people running the same CPU.

Unless you are comparing the exact setup as yours, I think a number of factors may be contributing to your score/performance.
1. WinXP, good OS, but not being able to do DX10/11 may handicap it somewhat as DX10/11 may be more efficient.
2. CPU, not sure about your CPU and where it stands performancewise, but I think you are comparing yours against Intel SB rigs. You know that an AMD quad just cannot compete against Intel quad.
3. Like the HD5870 vs HD6870 scenario, a single HD6850 cannot match a single HD5850, but with better CF scaling for the HD6xxx series, it is conceivable that with better CF scaling, 2x HD6850 =/> 2x HD5850.
No proof, just a gut feeling....

I have not had a chance to tweak the system. I might try overclocking the CPU more to see if that has any affect on the frame rate.
