    Suggestions for my System

    This is my current system:

    G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

    GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 DDR3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor - unlocked to 4 cores at 3.6GHz

    XFX HD-487A-ZHFC Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

    CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready

I'm considering purchasing a gtx 680 and some additional memory (bring it up to 8gigs).

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Thoughts? I currently run at 1900 by 1200 on a 24 inch monitor.

While it's still in the dumps, might be worth moving to 16GB of DDR3-1600 for ~$70-$80. Prices are starting to slowly rise again at this point, so it won't be super cheap for long.

Not sure if you think you'll need it in the long run or not, but for me it was a no brainer.

I'm not sure if my MB can take 1600.

    http://www.gigabyte.us/products/prod...px?pid=3010#sp

Support for DDR3 1666(OC)/1333/1066 MHz memory modules

I'm not sure how 1666(OC) works or what that means.

EDIT: So my guess is that system can take 1600 and will just downgrade anything higher to 1666. I currently have 2 sticks of 2GB. I could grab 2 sticks of 4GB for a total of 12GB. However, I can't seem to find the max limit per memory slot. I'm assuming the max 4gb since there are 4 slots and the MB can handle a max of 16GB.

Took a look and I thin kthe 680 might not be that great for me since my MB is limited to PCI express 2.0.

Can any one suggest a card?
