Looks like another new F2P FPS came out last week and this one is surprisingly good. Kind of feels like a more interesting CoD with lots of customization and also mechs. And built-in wallhacks. It also looks great and has an almost Ghost in the Shell-meets-Killzone aesthetic to it.

New weapon parts and gear cost a lot, but everything can be unlocked using in-game currency and you're given a bunch of gear every time you level up. The only thing I've seen that you can't buy with in-game currency is additional loadout slots.

You can unlock new stuff permanently, but that seriously costs a ton of (in-game) money and it seems to make more sense to just use the 1-day or 7-day rental options unless you find some piece of gear that you cannot live without. That said, every piece of gear that improves one stat takes away from another, so there's a balance at play that doesn't make the game feel like it's pay-to-win at all. I played several matches with just the default loadout and once I actually learned how to play, I was regularly in the top 3 even against level 20+ players. Skill is definitely more important than your gear.

I was playing a lot today. The game is really good. Graphics are really solid and the weapons feel good. I think they need to work on the marketplace. I find the items too expensive to buy with the in game currency - in that it takes too long to have enough to buy anything. You can rent gear for a day but that doesn't seem appealing to me. Overall, I'm impressed it is f2p.

I think I was the only one that played the original one. I enjoyed it until it finally died.

I was playing it for a bit, but I was one of the people affected by the login bug. I haven't tried to play since.
