Dcom errors from old exchange server

I am trying to rid my event log, on my domain controllers, of a DCOM connection failure. The DCOM reference is to a retired Exchange 2003 server which has been retired

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <Exchange 2003> using any of the configured protocols. Event ID 10009.

I need to know what I need to do to resolve these errors. It seems as if we only started seeing these errors after pointing exchange 2007 to a server 2008 dc from a 2003 dc.

I checked all dns records and also everywhere in ad and can't find any remnants of the old server. I am planning to upgrade to exchange 2010 soon and need to get these errors fixed ASAP.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Seems several people before have had the same issue. So you retired a 2003 Exchange server, and replaced it with a 2007 Exchange server. Then after this was done, you upgraded your DC from 2003 to 2008, is that correct?

Not being a Windows person, I can't really help man, I'm sorry.

    These seems promising though:
