Mass Effect 3
So I bought Mass Effect 3 and as of last night I have approx 8 hrs into the game, not sure at which stage of the game I'm at but I know I have a ton of missions left to do and tons of stuff to see/do/etc and I'm having a blast
Why can't more FPS be like this?

Great White Shark
Been playing ME3 on and off for a while now, not sure exactly how far I am into the game but it's pretty damn fun....and challenging. I got whooped a few times but I'm thoroughly enjoying this game.

I have tried to stay away from the negativity, but I know quite a bit of people that were up in arms about the game. I am not sure why, but it was enough that I figured I would wait for bargain bin pricing.

It is a good game. One warning, there is no "mop up" time, if you do the final mission, that's it, game over. I'm going to go back and reload at an earlier place because there were quit a few side missions I didn't finish.

You can also restart the game with your current character. The level you are at carries through too.

[Insert witty title here]
I haven't even started Mass Effect 2 yet.
I don't plan on playing Mass Effect 3 until it's $10 or so and I feel like I haven't wasted anything if I do end up hating it.

That's a cool feature. I may start at the beginning. So many choices, it could be interesting seeing how events change.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
With all the fuss about the ending and the DLC coming soon, I'll just wait to get the "GOY" edition later with everything packed in. I already missed the big hype storm and, frankly, I don't really care to get into that universe right now. I got my fill of the combat in ME2, and I played the ME3 demo. I was tired of the chunky controls by the end of the demo. They needed to either go all in on the 3rd person action system, like Gears of War or go back down the RPG route. Splitting the difference between the two felt bland.

The reason of the uproar was that some parts of the game didn't match with previous promises made by the dev team and the fan concerns was met by an atrocious PR Damage control. It's like every time they wanted to put out a fire somebody handed them a bucket of gasoline.
How much those points concerns you (things like the impact of multiplayer on the actual single player story, the various endings promised not being there, etc...) kinda dictates what will be your reaction to the game. If you don't care about them much then the game will deliver, if you think they're capital then the game won't.
I do have all Mass Effect games on pre ordered collector edition and my advice for anyone who hasn't bought the game yet is to wait for the bargain bin.
If you're only interested in the gameplay then it's an ok game, nothing that a dedicated FPS/TPS shooter wouldn't do better imo.
If you're interested in both the gameplay and the story then it's a good game, still nothing to write home about though.
If you're mostly interested in the story then depending on what you want from a story you will be very pleased or very disappointed or everything in between.
My personal experience was a rough ride, with very good highs and very disappointing lows. I would never have bought this game full price if I had borrowed it from a friend beforehand.
After DA2 it felt like turning the other cheek and my previous trust in Bioware to produce quality RPGs is all but dissolved as they do not seem to be willing to spend the necessary time on those projects anymore.
EDIT : another reason to wait is that they're currently producing a free DLC to complement the currently very poor ending and it will be published during summer. Not much point in playing the game before if they indeed manage salvaging it.

^^^To be honest I agree with Lee. It's also a good game for people that don't play a lot of games. It seems really in depth and immersed in the universe, but in all, it really isn't.
