    sager vs origin?

    hi all,
I'm getting a new laptop for use as a mobile recording studio and a CAD workstation (and gaming mostly). I've spec'd out a Sager and an Origin the same but the Origin is $400 more. can you all tell me why?

    thanks!

I don't know much about Origin, I suspect you'll find prices can vary considerably between the different Clevo resellers anyway though as they certainly did here in the UK. Sager are one of the biggest Clevo resellers and have been that way for some time so I'd assume they've negotiated better deals on components or running a tighter profit margin.

When choosing a laptop company I'd do some reading up on who has the better customer service, the big Clevo DTR machines don't tend to have a great reliability record due to them usually packing in a lot of hot hardware into a small space so it may be spending a bit more to begin with is worth it in the long run.

    Leviathan - AMD Ryzen 9 3900x, Noctua NH D15 Cromax, Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB DDR 3200Mhz, Nvidia RTX 3080 10GB, 4TB SSD/26TB HDD. Fractal Design R6, Corsair RM850X
    Rocinante - Intel i7 8750H, 32GB RAM, RTX 2060, 2.2TB SSD, Alienware M15 R1

cool, thanks for the reply. makes sense. this won't be my main machine so i don't see this burning out on me, but have heard of occasional overheating problems.
