I'm getting a new laptop for use as a mobile recording studio and a CAD workstation (and gaming mostly). I've spec'd out a Sager and an Origin the same but the Origin is $400 more. can you all tell me why?
ASUS P5Q3, Intel E8500 3.16GHz, OCZ Intel Extreme Edition 4GB DDR3 1600, 2x SAPPHIRE HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 in CrossFire mode, Antec Twelve Hundred Black Full Tower Case, CORSAIR 850W PSU, 2x Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s, SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner SATA, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit
I don't know much about Origin, I suspect you'll find prices can vary considerably between the different Clevo resellers anyway though as they certainly did here in the UK. Sager are one of the biggest Clevo resellers and have been that way for some time so I'd assume they've negotiated better deals on components or running a tighter profit margin.
When choosing a laptop company I'd do some reading up on who has the better customer service, the big Clevo DTR machines don't tend to have a great reliability record due to them usually packing in a lot of hot hardware into a small space so it may be spending a bit more to begin with is worth it in the long run.
