    laptop fan cooling

I don't know if this is in the wrong section. I have a DELL XPS L501X laptop. The fan doesn't seem to run as much as I'd like. When it does run, it blows burning hot air. Is there a way I can tweak the bios so that the fan runs more often and blows out the hot air? My bios PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility does not have an option for tweaking the fan. I hear that rivatuner might have a utility.
