Couple days ago i boot win 7 and my desktop icons are HUGE (i didn't shut it off that way).
So i go view->small icons and it's fixed.
Next Day i boot win 7 and icons are HUGE again *sigh*
Right click desktop, personalize, display, select small icons hit apply (must logoff to take effect).
Log off, log back in, icons HUGE :P
This is a PC with only 1 account with full admin rights - so what gives, how do i get win 7
to save my icons?
Registry tweak maybe (go to the source :P)

Anywho to get the iconsize to save i had to rebuild the icon cache.
New Problem:
The text on my icons (desktop) is normal size if icon size is set to medium (HUGE icons), if i go through personalize-display
to change icon size to small the text and taskbar will be tiny but it'll save.
I can click on my desktop hold down ctrl and use the mousewheel to make icons smaller without reducing textsize,
however this won't save.
So how do you change icon size in windows 7 so it will save but not change text size?
As a sign of goodwill here is a freefix for firefox problems:
If your firefox ever disappears and will only show in maximized form but will minimize (or so it seems) if you choose
restore down mouse over the preview window, right click, choose move and tap an arrow key.

I haven't had this problem. Except for my HTPC, all of my systems run the stock icon/font size in Win7. I have multiple folders set to display say... Jumbo thumbnails (video and pictures folders), while other folders display the detailed output (documents and music). My display settings for these folders is preserved. Is there a chance you have accidentally set some kind of accessibility feature to on?
I'll see if I can replicate the issue on one of my systems at home.

New Rule: 2GB per core, minimum.
Interesting idea you brought up there...any way to reset desktop to default settings?
Think video drivers could have something to do with this?
In short: my text size/taskbar size are normal when i set personalize->display to medium, icon size is normal
if i set it to small. Is there no way to set change either icon size or text size by itself ?
