    is there a way i can hook up a 4th gen iPhone to this

    its an Yamaha home theater receiver. i want to stream music thru it

    You just need a 1/8" Mini jack to RCA adapter. Any electronics store will have it. Just plug it into the headphone port, then plug in some RCA cables to an input on the back of the receiver.

    You could also look into iPhone docks if you wanted extra features such as a remote control and optical output.

    the headphone to rca cable will work but you will get noise on the line when the channel is open and no device is plugged in just a fair warning.

    This. If you are hooking it up to a Home Theater setup, do it right and get a dock with optical out.
