I'm about 10 hours or so in and the performance has went from great to good 75% of the time. It started chugging a little bit then got worse and is still getting worse mission by mission.
It seems to only use a single core. So as more is going on, it pegs the CPU. On my CPU monitor I see a single Core get hammered, while the other 7 are idle.

DLd it on Steam on Monday. Couldn't wait on Black Friday. Besides, I wanted the PC game since I have not played PC for anything in eons....except TF2.
Anyway I also had to pick up the strategy guide because I couldn't figure out how to get a handle on panic levels which had countries abandoning me left and right. And there is definitely an art to controlling that. Have had no problems with the tactical meat and potatoes part of the games. Easily one of the best games of the year. Addictive as hell.

Named all my soldiers after family members which has strangely made each mission more suspenseful.
I named mine after friends and coworkers. I gave them regular updates on how they were doing and somberly let them know when they died violently (always those damned Chrysalids!).
