Infinite Reboot Loop
Problem here, hope you guys n gals can help.
I tried overclocking my cpu two days ago. the bios said overclocking failed and the CPU dropped back to it's default clock speed. So far so good. I've used the pc several times since then, all seemed well. Today i turned on my pc, booted into windows and started working then suddenly my system rebooted. Ever since then my PC reboots right after posting. sometimes isee the post screen other times it reboots right before or right after. I was at one point able to get into the BIOS at that pointi reset all settings to Factory Defaults but that did not help. I am wondering is this is b/c of the overclocking or my PSU or Video card happening to go bad conicidentally? Any help would be appreciated.I dont get any post error beeps or messages.
Windows 7 Pro
Core 2 Quad Q9550 (had been rma-ed two years ago)
8 GB DDR2 SDRAM
im going with PSU. video card overclocking will cause tears in screen. timing offset of memory can also cause the reboots.

@ Angelo, i had tried overclocking the CPU not the GPu.
I think what angelo is getting at is the overclocking may have caused a weak psu to fail? What psu do you have?
C2D e6750 @ 2.66
2 gig ram
Asus Radeon 4850
My intital reaction is heat? My first dual core got too hot and it kept rebooting on me. My old computer (which I still) have is the Q9550 @ 2.83GhZ which I never OC'd. I would want to know if how the temps are. If you are OC'ing the CPU, then I'd make sure to get an aftermarket CPU cooling. And as someone pointed out, the OCing, may require a stronger PSU. But I'd check the temps in the bios first as the overclocking may be generating too much heat. With my old 9550, I used the Coolmaster HYPER 212 as I wasnt satisfied with the stock CPU cooling.

issue is fixed. removed and replaced cpu, reset cmos, then removed cmos battery. had to reinstall my os lol. but removing cmos battery fixed it. it was def b/c of the failed OC>
