Cool PC boots slower and slower-is there a virus afoot?

Acer PC with w/7 working fine until one day it starts "do not shut off computer, configuring windows updates etc." This takes from 3 to 10 minutes! It

is ok once in a while but everytime I boot the computer It does it again. This idiotic message is cramping my style. Is this a virus?

I am clueless. PC is 2 yrs old! HELP! Thanks in advance. I never had this problem up until 3 weeks ago.

there may be virus/spyware on your computer. I would check your start up list in your msconfig. That will list all the applications booting up with the computer. There are so many that are not needed. Whenever I install new software, I ensure that it's not system required then I disable "startup at boot." You could run housecall from trendmicro.com

If it's an issue with installing windows updates, I know windows 7 was having issues with it's updates. My computer would continue to update the same crap over and over. The issue was thaat M$ was having issues with it's updates and you needed to manually update Windows.
