Best way to optimize sound on headset (?)

I got this Creative Wrath wireless headset to use for work/skype and some online gaming. Great headset, great sound, but the range is only about 5 feet, then it cuts out. It has a USB stick that I plug in the back of the computer which is the wireless trasmitter. I would like to get more range. If I use a USB cable extention and plug the wireless stick in to and move it high up, will that give me more range?

That would likely work. A powered usb hub could be an option here as well. Moving it higher or lower won't necessarily make a large difference, but getting it out from behind the PC and at a level that is more direct versus your headset should make a noticeable difference.
