    XP on netbook

I have Windows XP on a Samsung Netbook which I use as my travel computer. It has a lot of drivers and software on it that I don't know if I can get again.

Microsoft has ended support for XP, but I am nervous to upgrade to Win7 or Win8.

Will I need to get the drivers and software in order to upgrade, or am I worried about nothing?

Barring it being really outside-the-box hardware, usually a newer version of windows will include the drivers for most of the hardware that came before it.

I think I second this? You might have trouble installing 7 or 8 on that old laptop.

If you're looking for good OS options for an old XP laptop (I've been doing the same), then consider a user-friendly, lightweight version of Linux such as Lubuntu (or Xubuntu if your computer can handle it).
There's lots of good documentation on the install of these and you can even try it out before you install it (look for the documentation on Live CDs/USBs).
Of course, if you have issues with the install, you could always ask =)

(maybe a year too late, but you can't say I didn't try)

That is a hit or a miss. The manufacturer has to provide drivers to Microsoft to be packaged in the newer releases... whether the netbook manufacturer (in this case, Samsung) released such compatible drivers, you will want to check Samsung's website for that.
