    best repeater for linksys router

so i have a linksys WRT54G router and i used to have a range extender which died. i think I'm looking for a repeater which will take the current signal and boost it to farther distances and more powerful.

    Any repeater recommended that

    - works well with Linksys
    - utilizes the same ID, etc as the host router so I dont have to have another ID to connect to
    - powerful signal?
    - not netgear!

I recently bought a TP-LINK router that is amazing but never tried anything else from them.

    Thoughts?

Definitely would recommend against a repeater/extender if at all possible.

    +1.

That said if you really have No other choice.

Repeaters are dependent on Chipset. If your current Routers can be flashed with DD-WRT then they will work together as Repeaters regardless of make.

Otherwise you need two Routers that are compatible to do Repeating.

    In general.

The typical means to extend coverage are.

    1. Access Points (or Wireless Router working as an Access Point) connect with wire to the main Router (Using Wireless Routers as a Switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html )

    2. Wireless Extenders.

    3. Powerline (Ethernet over the house electrical ).

4 MOCA (Ethernet over coax cables).

Best and guaranteed success is no. 1 (additional AP).

The others YMMV it depends on your specific physical and electronic environment.
