Questions about upgrading a Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3 motherboard

My friend is a big gamer, and has a GA-770T-USB3 motherboard with 4G of dual channel RAM. It's really not cutting it for some of the new games. We're trying to upgrade his CPU and RAM, aside from a video card, so he can get more life out of his system, as he can't afford a new PC for a few years. But I ran into some questions I couldn't quite find the answers to. I forget his CPU exactly, but it's a dual core, and he wants a quad or 6 core upgrade of the Phenom II's, but this http://www.cnet.com/products/gigabyt...amd-770/specs/ tells me his motherboard only supports up to x4 Phenom processors, while I've seen builds online of people with the same motherboard rocking an x6 1100T. Is that possible with this motherboard? Plus, we're completely lost on the memory right now. The compatible memory list http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList...-770t-usb3.pdf feels really dated, and wondering if it's possible to take a chance with some memory that's not almost entirely limited to a max of 4G in dual channel? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much. <3
