My Samsung flatscreen tv just died. It was a 2010 model 720p 32" LCD. Im looking at buying a new 1080p Samsung. Here is my dilemna. Some movies played in 1080p (heavy cgi animation) look fake to me at very high resolution. I know they are fake and cgi but for some reason it is noticably distracting to my eyes. Avatar, a favorite movie of mine is a good example. When I play them on my 720p tv the issue seems to be less obvious for some reason and not a distraction at all.

I never really played around with resolution on an LCD tv and never owned a 1080p LCD to even try...my question is, if I buy a 1080p LCD... is there an option to change the resolution in the setting from one to the other if for some reason there is a movie that it becomes a distraction?
