1920x1080p monitor ... DVI or HDMI?

I am buying a new 1080p monitor to replace my really old non 1080p monitor. My video card is the Radeon R7 265 so I don't need anything with more resolution than this. My video card has both DVI (which I am currently using) and HDMI out. The monitor I am looking at doesn't have an HDMI in, is this necessary at this resolution or am I fine with just DVI. I guess I need to know what the benefits are of going HDMI over DVI at 1920x1080p?

Single link DVI can do up to 1920x1200 @60Hz.

Dual-Link DVI is needed to drive 2560x1440 @60Hz (think 30" monitors from a few years ago)

HDMI 1.4a can support up to 4K resolutions (3840x2160 @ 30Hz) (which is what your AMD card has I believe).

    HDMI 2.0 can do 4K @60Hz.

Ultimately I would suggest something with displayport, but without that as an option, DVI is just fine.

Ok I actually bought (and typing this now through it) an HP Pavilion 25XI 7ms 25" IPS display and I love it. It is really amazing the difference from my HP w1907 19" LCD. Monitors have come a long way since I bought that one.

Maybe you could post a before and after pic. I've had the same monitor for 8 years now lol so would be interested to see how much better a new one would be.
