Two Speaker Setup ... what is great sounding and inexpensive?

My current speaker system I have had for about ten years is on it's last legs and I find I want to go to just a two speaker setup on my desk. I want them to have decent sound but want them to be fairly inexpensive (in the $50 range). Can I actually get a decent set of speakers for this? All I do is some light gaming, light music listening and watching some television episodes on my computer. I don't need them to fill a room full of sound, just decent sound within a couple feet from them.

    Any recommendations please?

My only 2-speaker setup (2.1 actually) that I have been using is the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. But even on sale, they are twice your budget.
