Audio problem
My board has onboard sound and it was working, until my PSU decided to die.I replaced the PSU and I figured all is ok.
Well is not, I have lost all sound.I figured maybe the drivers went south somehow,so I reinstalled the drivers and nothing.
I went into the Realtek control panel and checked all the settings and still nothing.I finally had to resort to installing a Sound Blaster Audigy card.
I have sound now but,I can no longer set studio quality sound. Is it possible that when the PSU died,it took the sound chip along with it?
System settings show,all is ok.

Anything is possible.
I've seen a small power surge destroy a pc that was turned off. Power supply smoked and runined the mobo.
Did you install the software for the Sound Blaster Audigy card?

Yes Audigy works fine, the Realtek sound chip seems to be RIP. Funny thing, device manager reports nothing wrong.
As I said,is all there but the sound. I expected to see a red cross in DM,but no all is well.
