I haven't upgraded much for the past few years as my CPU's are enough to get the job done (honestly speaking, Intel had stagnated with CPU architecture development for the past few gens), but I do believe in GPU upgrades. I have three rigs now:

    Main:
    Intel i7 3960X @4.1ghz
    Asus Rampage IV Extreme
    4x 4GB Corsair Dominator 2133MHz
    2x Gigabyte RX VEGA 64
    Seasonic X-1250 PSU
    64bit Win10 Pro v1809
Acer XR341CK 75Hz Freesync 21:9 monitor/works with Gsync as well

    2nd Rig:
    Intel i7 4770K @4.2ghz
    ASRock Z87 Extreme 6
    2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz
    PowerColor Radeon VII
    Enermax MAX REVO 1500W
    64bit Win10 Pro v1809
SB ZX + Samsung K651 soundbar
    Samsung LC49HG90DMEXX 32:9
(pic below was when I had my 2x VEGA64 hooked up to the monitor, now it's the Radeon VII + i7 4770K, was running the Strange Brigade benchmark at the time)

    HTPC Rig:
    Intel i7 2600K @4.2ghz
    Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
    4x 4GB RipJawsZ 1600MHz
    LeadTek GTX1080 Hurricane OC
    Corsair HX-1050
    64bit Win10 HE v1809
    65' Panasonic 4k TV

I still have a PowerColor RX VEGA64 Red Devil that's coming back from RMA.....so, I might sell off either the dual VEGA64, or the Red Devil....not sure yet. Keeping the GTX1080 just to keep myself.......real?

I haven’t run Crossfire setups since the 5970 and 7970 series. I used to run SLI setups but forced myself to stop by going ITX. What about going Radeon VII crossfire?

    Spectacular setup!

Yesssss.... The update is everything got delayed due to having to fix the garage first. I'm hoping to make some headway this weekend.

My 2600K HTPC rig has been sold, so my 4770K with GTX1080 has replaced it as my HTPC rig. Also built a main gaming rig (3960X and 4770K are kinda long in the tooth now), so I'd built a Ryzen unit -
    Ryzen R9 3900X (12C/24T)
    Thermaltake Water 3.0 360mm AIO
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme
PowerColor RX VEGA 64 Red Devil (reusing from old rig)
    4x 8GB XPG DDR4 D60G 3200 RAM
    Samsung 4TB 860 EVO + Samsung 860 QVO (games)
    6TB WD Black (games)
2TB Seagate Barracuda (downloads, music, movies)
    CoolerMaster H500M
    Corsair HX1000 Platinum

Awaiting big NAVI 23 to come next year before I'll upgrade the GPU, meanwhile, the Red Devil is doing pretty good in games.....it does struggle a bit in newer game @3440x1440 but still quite playable.

I'm rather ashamed to admit my last self built PC was a socket 754 Athlon64 3000 with an ATI Radeon X850XT even though I work in IT and have no issue building PC's, that particular one was such a nightmare with having to wait for rma's and similar it put me off building a PC again and having to do the same for faulty parts. In that case it turned out the parts were all fine but the cooler was out of spec and touching part of the motherboard....sigh. I've been running an i7 3930K system for many years now but it's been struggling with wireless VR and with Ryzen processors looking great I decided to bite the bullet and build my own system.

It's been a bit stressful working out all the compatibility as I worry about these things more than I should but now it's all together I'm much more pleased with it than I expected. I've been a member of the forums here for 16 years and particularly in the early years liked reading about all the high end parts I couldn't afford as a poor university student but this time I've splurged quite a bit on parts, wireless VR performance has been great and clearly my old system was struggling more than I thought but the most impressive part is how quiet the system is. I was alarmed when I first powered it on and it was silent thinking I've really mucked up the cabling somehow.

This is what the new system packs:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900x - waited for the 3950x but they were immediately out of stock and ETA's are months away
    Noctua DH 15 CPU cooler
    Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB DDR4 3200Mhz
Asus ROG Crosshair Hero VIII wifi
    Fractal Define R6 USB-C case
    Corsair RM850X 850W
Geforce GTX 1070 8GB - not upgraded from the last system but the RTX cards don't seem worth it at the moment
    2TB SSD/44TB HDD storage
    Asus BD-rom

I particularly like the case which was a struggle to choose as I wanted something with no rgb, that would fit an ATX board, that could take an optical drive and a decent number of hard drives but also fit within the tight space on my desk. The Fractal Define R6 does all that, it's quiet, has a good few ports on the front and I think it looks great. I had initially tried to order it with a solid side but they weren't in stock or silly prices but now I've seen the tempered side I'm pleased with it.

    Leviathan - AMD Ryzen 9 3900x, Noctua NH D15 Cromax, Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB DDR 3200Mhz, Nvidia RTX 3080 10GB, 4TB SSD/26TB HDD. Fractal Design R6, Corsair RM850X
    Rocinante - Intel i7 8750H, 32GB RAM, RTX 2060, 2.2TB SSD, Alienware M15 R1

I'd swapped places for my AMD R9 3900X and Intel i7 3960X rigs as I believe my 3900X + VEGA64 would be better suited for my 49" 32:9 Freesync 2 monitor, managed to get Gsync to work with my i7 3960X + GTX1080 on my Acer XR341CK 75Hz monitor (will clean up desk area before I can take a pic and post here). I've added 2x 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD's to the system, and bought a GPU brace (though I didn't really need it as I'd forgotten that my case has its own GPU brace).

This is not really an updated pic in that, at the time this pic was taken, I'd yet to install the 2x 1TB Samsung 850 EVOO SSD's, and I've replaced the 4x 8GB XPG RAM sticks with 2x Patriot ViperRGB 3600CL17 (don't need 32GB of RAM for now)

A shot of what my rig looks like now, it's a little dark but only so as I'd wanted to show the lighting....rummaged through my collection of keyboards and decided on my Topre RealForce 104U 55G (with yellow PBT keycaps and a Logitech G703 for some gaming goodness.

I have some of my cans on rotation, using an iFi Micro iDSD Black Label as my DAC combo (you can just see it just above the top left of the keyboard).....headphones are:
    Denon AH-D7000, Grado GS1000i, HiFiMan HE560, ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000, HiFiMan HE-4, MD Sennheiser HD6XX.

I've updated my rig, swapped out the PC VEGA64 Red Devil for a Sapp Nitro+ RX 6800 and had been using it for 5 about weeks (bought it on 11/27/20), moved up to an RX 6900 XT about a week back now (actually wanted an RX 6800 XT, but they're damn near impossible to find). My pre-order for an XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 6900 XT on Amazon was postponed due to a CC limit issue (forgot to raise it for the purchase, had lowered my limit as I had not been overseas for a while, nor do I intend to travel anywhere in the near future), thing was, Amazon had not informed me of the issue, I could have easily resolved it almost immediately online.

I was fuming at Amazon because I'd had to wait longer, buuuut, a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (local unit with local warranty) suddenly became available locally, though the price was pretty high, I decided NOT to wait for my postponed Amazon preorder, canceled the heck outta it and snag the Sapp card instead.

    Ryzen R9 3900X @ 4.45GHz (12C/24T)
    Thermaltake Water 3.0 360mm AIO
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme (BIOS v. F31)
Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (with SAM enabled)
    2x 8GB Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3600CL17
256GB Sabrent Rocket NVMe M.2 (OS)
Samsung 4TB 860 EVO SATA SSD (games)
Samsung 860 QVO SATA SSD (games)
2x 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SATA SSD (games)
    6TB WD Black HDD (games)
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (downloads, music, movies)
    CoolerMaster MasterCase H500M
    Corsair HX1000 Platinum
    LG SL8YG soundbar (ATMOS + DTS:X)
    iFi Micro iDSD Black Label + Senn HD800/ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000/AKG K812/HFM HE1000/Denon AH-D7000/Senn HD600/HFM HE-4

Oh yeah, had also gotten a Secret Lab Omega chair just so I can rest my butt and back comfortably, it'd also make me feel like a real gamer (tho truth be told, I'm far from one)......no, it has nothing to do with my getting older and needing lumbar and neck support, nope!

    Edit - Updated BIOS to non-beta F31....at least, I don't think F31 is a beta.

Thanks! I think I should be good for a number of years, looking forward to spending money on other unnecessary stuff this year....like food and Coke (not the drug, the drink) . Well, maybe I might up my game to a Ryzen 5950X as it'd be the last but the best CPU that my mobo can support, but that'd be later part of the year.....

Wow that look gorgeous! IF you don't mind me asking, what was the cost for the upgrade?

The Nitro+ RX 6900 XT cost me about 1320USD, yes I know it's pretty high, but this is a more reasonably priced 6900 XT. I'd wanted the MERC319 RX 6900 XT which would have cost me about 1181USD at Amazon (but it'd be an imported card and hence, not covered by local warranty. RMA would have to go thru the US, hence shipping costs are involved, my Sapphire card is a locally distributed card and covered by local warranty. Can't tell you how much fun it is to be able to play Metro Exodus at 3840x1080, DX12 Ultra and still net >100fps most of the time. BTW, it's great to see you around here!
