Something's been bugging me about WinME ever since I heard it the first time. Since WinME eliminates DOS (other than the virtual command prompt), how do you do things like basic command line troubleshooting or flashing a bios. Compatibility mode is fine and dandy for some things, but I am *not* flashing a bios from it. Anyone care to comment?

I just use a Win98 boot disk. Not only for flashing BIOS, but for Partition Magic 4.0 also. PQ 4.0 for Windows needs to boot to DOS for resizing the boot partition, and it just wont do it in WinME (it' ll just reboot to WinME without resizing when I tried). So I had to install PQ 4.0 for DOS and boot with a Win98 boot disk to do the job.

Okay, I know they' re slow in 3D - but I still love Matrox' s.

BTW, you may want to try this out if you are feeling lucky:
There is no connection between the boot disk and the current OS.
ME creates a boot disk; have not played with it yet. You can still use a WIN98 boot disk!
