Post KT266+... is SOYO the way to go?

    http://www.gotapex.com/reviews.php?rev=kt266a/p6.html

I was looking at this site comparing a few KT266+ boards.. is the SOYO really the best out there?? or should I be looking at something else?

For the price, what you get with the board (integrated 10/100 NIC and 6-channel audio with adapter), in addition to having some very good o/c features, it is definitely a board that should be on the consideration list. The reviews I have read also indicate the board is very stable.

Besides, there is just the plain old coolness factor with the black PCB and the purple PCI slots; especially if you have a modded case with a window and a light kit.

    Just my $.02 though.

    Hi there!
I built my new PC this past weekend using the SOYO Dragon+ and had only a few problems. Overall the board is very good - it has a one quirky layout issue- the CD-ROM signal wire connects between two PCI slots - which are located after the AGP slot- which boils down to a wire running over and on top of my GeForce3 card. Not a big deal, but makes me a little nervous. I am running WIndows XP and had stability issues until I flashed the BIOS with veriosn BA1 - now things run smoothly. I also had sound problems until I figured out I had plugged the wire in wrong! DOH! The sound is VERY good as well, almost as good as my SB Live. The board is very stable, is very fast and I am very happy. Also, SOYO documentation is not all that great- it is easy enough to follow the diagrams, but their english needs some work. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Here is my new PC:

    Athlon XP 1700+
    SOYO Dragon+
    512MB Crucial DDR RAM
    GeForce3 Ti500
    InWin Q500 case
    My new System:
    Athlon XP 1700+
    Soyo Dragon+
    GeForce3 Ti500
    512 MB Crucial DDR RAM
    InWin Q-500 Tower
    Sony Trinitron 19"

    Thumbs up

I have the SOYO DRAGON (not the +) and its great! I hear the DRAGON + is a lot better. I find that hard to believe because the DRAGON ran flawless and was easy to use, in other words it was perfect. How can the DRAGON + be better than perfect? I hear nothing but good things about the DRAGON + and with my experience with the DRAGON, I say go with the DRAGON +! As of late SOYO has been putting out some great MOBOs!

Will boards like the Dragon Plus cause less IRQ conflicts due to their integrated components than pci sound and nic in addition to other pci devices?

Yea, that is the board I have decided on. It looks sweet and I have only heard good things about it. Also, I think you mean to say KT266A .
