Red face How do u blow up a picture w/o the loss of quality?

Hey... i'm wondering how u would go about blowing up a picture that u can copy paste off the internet, WITHOUT lossing any image quality... or without distorting it.... i'm sure there is a way to do this through some program...i know that if u do it in word, it does distort the picture quite a bit... any suggestions?... thanx

It depends. The quality of a blownup picture is completely dependent on the number of pixels in the orginal picture. This is true in any zoom environment, whether you want to make an 11x14 out of your snapshot on traditional film to zooming the picture of the shark on the top of this page.

well if you blow up the picture it can get ugly.

It is always 100% best to start bigger than needed then scale down.

You really can't. The small image is X number of pixles, and it will still be X number of pixles, only in a bigger space.
Paint programs use mathematical algorithms to smoot out this process, but unless the original was of extremely good quality, it will still come out distorted.

Well they are mostly right, but if you have a better algorithim that smooths then it will help you. Adobe has best alg. patented so would get best results with them. Can also do a smooth on it and see if it eliminates any blockiness that occurs.

Ut oh there's already an answer I better shut up
