2D & 3D Image Quality: TNT2U vs. GF2MX/Radeon 32DDR
I am thinking about upgrading from my Creative 3D Blaster TNT2-Ultra 32SDR to either a Hercules 3D ProphetII MX or an ATI Radeon 32DDR.
I know everyone says that the ATI Radeon 32DDR has better 2D & 3D image quality than the GF2MX, but would I see a noticeable improvement in 2D quality jumping from my TNT2U to a GF2MX? How about 3D image quality in games like Counter Strike, where I play at 1024x768 resolution?
To those of you who have a 19" monitor, what resolution do you play games at? What resolution do you set your desktop?

Yes, you'll see a small improvement in 2d image quality when going to a MX, but a much greater improvement if you go to a Radeon.
All nVidia cards suffers from more or less blurry image a hi-res, due to a lowpass filter on the RAMDAC which are usually built of low quality components on most nVidia card. So, having your desktop at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 at a nVidia card may not look so pleasing.
In 3d image you'll see a larger improvement when going to a MX than in 2d. But the difference to a Radeon will be even higher. The Radeon has higher internal precision and which results in less banding when texturing many layers.
I play games at 1600x1200x32 (in UT at least, but that's about the only game I play)
My desktop is 1280x1024x32.
