Getting a Radeon 8500 &I`m new to ATI HELP

I`m getting a Radeon 8500 don`t ask it`s a secert.
This is my first ATI card so I have questions below.

First let me say this I hate the heat sink they are using !
What would a better solution for heat sink and fan ATI tweakers ?Nosie is not a issue unless it`s over 35DbLs, but I do want at least 20 cfm fan on the heatsink!

Second
Drivers anything special I need to know about ATI drivers.
I`m use to Voodoo an Nvidia drivers.

I don`t like the fan due to pryer experances with Voodoo 5500 and Geforce 2 Ultras.
As for the card I can`t say because I don`t want my girlfreind to get fired from her work.
I won`t be getting it now but in 2 weeks.***cough***
I will be more than happy to post benchmarks here.

Excuse me Sunshine but why would you pay $399 to get a radeon 8500 when you already have a geforce3? Are you kidding me? Well maybe the radeon is a little faster but i see no reason for you to spend 400 bucks just to get a little better image quality and a few extra frames.

If the Radeon2 follows the same general path that the original Radeon did, massive heatsinks and huge fans won't be required, simply because they don't run nearly as hot. Now, the Radeon2 could be a whole lot different now that you have 50+ million transitors on the chip, but judging by the fan shown in the pictures, which looks like the same exact fan on my RadeonSE mind you, I don't think supercooling will be required for one. The stock cooling should do just fine.

We have been using the Radeon vid cards since 11/2000. The first one was a DDR32 retail version. Great card, we still have it.
The latest version is the Radeon DDR64 VIVO (retail) this card is the same as the SE version a lot of people was looking for int the past 2-3 months. The retail version comes with the new GPU runs a lot cooler than the older DDR64. Memory speed is quite a lot faster, fps is a lot higher, this card can be OC'ed much easier and goes higher. I do not OC my vid card as yet.

The drivers are excellent. All the Radeon drivers work on all Radeons. Rage3d.com is a site devoted completely for ATI products. They have all the latest drivers available. I am not thinking the present drivers are for the 8500. I am sure this card will have a different set of drivers, because it has much more features. Believe me the 8500 will actually blow away the GF3's.There are several reviews that prove this, as far as reviews go. Most nVidia people just don't believe the card will have the features that are far above anything nVidia has out at this time. It has been a known fact that the Radeon line of cards provide the very best screen of any card out there. The 8500 incorporates these featues and the speed that people want.
