    Question acoustic edge web update

is anybody having any luck with acoustic edge web driver update?

i'm running W2k/98SE dual OS and i was able to run web drivers update successfully on my W2k. But oddly, when i tried to run the same thing on my 98SE side, all i get is this message saying that i don't have a philips card and that i can't update drivers until i install the card. of course i installed drivers with the CD that came with the soundcard, and it's properly installed(i don't see no "!" mark in my hardware device manager"...

    anybody have any idea?

by the way why can't phillips just distribute new drivers in their ftp site, like normal people? their web-update feature is awkward to use at best!

Elxman posted this the other day:

It is a page with links to drivers.

You have to use WDM drivers on Win2k.
You have to use (9x drivers(Vxd's) for Win 95, Win98.
You can use WDM or 9x drivers on Win98SE & WinMe.
IMHO the 9x drivers are the best of the 2 sets. The WDM's are relatively new while the 9x drivers have been around for years. In your case (Win2k & 98SE)you have to use the WDM for Win2k. You might as well use it for 98SE as well, this may save you some trouble and confussion.

The latest WDM and/or 9x drivers are available at http://www.pcsound.philips.com/support.html

Don't use the auto-updater thingy. Download the WDM driver and follow the instructions for installation.

    Goodluck!
