    Post Linksys router & Mirc

I just helped my friend setup his 2 computers in the house with a Linksys 4-port router with his mediaone cable modem. In the instruction manual it mentions you may have a problem connecting to mirc because of the firewall. Theres a few other problems like direct connect with aim but we cant figure out how to get around the firewall. Does anyone know a fix? Any help especially for mirc would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Doesnt irc use port 667? You could likely forward that port to your approperate computer.

Im not familliar with AIM, but I do use ICQ. With ICQ, I was unable to allow a direct connection as ICQ seems to dynamicaly decide what port it wants to use for direct connection, so I was unable to set it up (at least, without forwarding an obscene number of ports - which would basically make the firewall aspect of the linksys pointless). Basically, I decided it was acceptable to live without the direct connection capability (if necessary, I figured I could set up a ftp server, which would also give them the ability to send me files).
