Help a Newbie out Please :) Building A New Comp...
Hello everyone, I will be building my own comp soon... I've never built a computer before but these are the specs...
CPU :Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz
MOBO :AsusTek A7M266
HDD :2x 60.0GB EIDE Deskstar 60GXP
CDRW :Plextor 16/10/40A PlexWriter
CD-DVD :Pioneer DVD-106S
V-CARD :nVidia Geforce3 64MB
S-CARD :Sound Blaster Live! Value 5.1
CASE :INWIN Q500 with 400 watt Power Supply
Ok...I've decided that Iw ant to use the Glaciator for my CPU fan...but what i needed to know is info about case fans...I hear about people puting case fans on the "SIDE PANEL" of their case, in the front, back,,and near the top...but the INWIN Q500 case doesn't have all those holes and stuff to put the fans...does it? Does anyone know how many fans can go into the Q500 (stock case) and which fans I should get? I want the fans that are the most quiet but provide the best cooling. Also, since this is my first time building a computer...I was wondering where I put all the power cables for the fans? Any help is appreciated and if you guys know any sites the help you build computers better and show you how please tell me, thanks!

It looks like you have picked some good parts. As far as the case goes I have an Inwin Q500 and when people are talking about putting fans on the side they mean that they have cut holes and then installed them theirselves. The Q500 comes with mounting positions to put 3 80mm fans. If you wanted to try to tackle a case mod, the In-win Q500 is a good case to mod. I've got 3 120mm fans mounted in mine(two on the side, one on top). They are fairly loud but they move a lot of air. I've got mine wired up to a baybus to make them quieter at the expense of air movement(but that's a whole other topic ).
I think Panaflow makes some fans that are supposed to be pretty quiet but I'm not sure. Any quiet fan isn't going to move as much air as one of the same size that is louder(air movement creates noise).
You can buy(or make them yourself) Y-splitters to hook up multiple fans to one connector.
I can't think of any websites right now that would help you very much. I'll post some if I think of any.
Hope that helps.
