Xbox360...now with HDMI

My guess is that this motherboard will be for te revised 360 coming out in Jan. If so, I'll be glas I waited..

Any other thoughts?

Not a big deal to me as I have spare component inputs on my TV/monitor, it's the DVI inputs that I'm rather short of. 'Sides, I don't think one can see any difference between component vs HDMI @720P (at least, I don't think so......)

Is there really going to be that much a difference in image/sound quality? My AV receiver doesn't have a HDMI input, so I wouldn't even be able to use this to the full potential. I think the only HDMI input I have is on my TV, but I don't want to go back to TV speaker sound. Than again now I have a good excuse to upgrage my receiver

If your tv has an HDMI input I'm sure it has audio outputs on it...just run the audio outputs to the receiver and voila!

I don't think it has digital audio outputs. I would like to keep Dolby Digital instead of using Prologic (analog).

I have a 50 inch plasma and have used both component and HDMI inputs extensively (component at first because the HDMI connection on DirecTV's H10 receiver was broke). There is virtually zero difference. Sometimes I think component looks better and sometimes HDMI. And when you consider that we're talking about animated games, the HDMI connection is irrelevant in my book.

I personally have not seen 720p via component vs HDMI.

but from my knowledge this is the connection quality from worst to best

COAX < COMPOSITE < S-VIDEO < COMPONENT < VGA < DVI/HDMI

(as far as I know DVI and HDMI is same signal/quality going to TV only difference is HDMI have audio and encryption. so when I refer to DVI I mean HDMI too)

at least for me going from VGA to DVI on my LCD and HDTV I see a big difference in sharpness and color vibrance. but then again I'm using around 1600x1200 high resolution.

so if u think about it Component is further down the quality line than HDMI so it should be less quality. but then again I do not know if there will be a big noticable difference since it's only 720p resolution.

I think so.

also HDDVD have resolution of 1080p. and I don't think analog component cable can go as high...
but not sure on that tho.

My TV can't do 1080p, so that's another upgrade. I'm feeling broke already. Actually, I don't want to upgrade my main TV cause it's too heavy to move. Sony Vegas are heavy.

I have 2 LCD TV/monitors that do up to 1080i, so I ain't bothered about this. I am, however, gonna take a closer look at TV/monitors that do 1920x1080 natively. Oddly enough, my 37" Benq LCD TV/monitor has 1920x1080 panel, but does only 1080i.....guess it's limited by its processor. Regardless, when HD DVD and Blu-ray (and their accompanying software) become readily available, I'd prolly get a 1080P TV.........sometime next year I guess.
