So I built the High End July Gamer's system and... 8(
Well put it together... and had to update the bios to support the 3.6 d 960 so its lil diff but everythin else the same specs. and well I had to take it into a local pc shop which was hell took it up there 3 times... and everytime they gave me a diff reason why it would randomly reset... and the 3rd time I actually got into an arguement with one of them over him not know anything about computers. Well they figured out that it was the ram the 2 one gig sticks clashing on the nforce board was their reasoning saying they just dont like big sticks and that i should go with 4 512 sticks... so atm im stuck with 1 gig of the ram ( just using 1 stick it works with just 1 for some reason but not 2 running together ) anyone else had this prob? I couldnt believe that was what was wrong 8(... I may try to send ram back and swap or just be out the money i guess...

kind didnt matter... i have corsair they tried 2 ocz one gig sticks and it did same thing so they tried 4 512's and it ran fine... my quesion is does anyone succesfully run 2 one gig sticks on those nforce boards or whatever.

they were putting ram in the right slots when using the gig sticks right? i know usually when using two sticks (or dual chanel) you can't occupy say slot 1 and 2 (or 3 and 4)unless you're using all four slots. it's either using 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. when using two sticks only i know its usually a bad idea to try two slots right next to one another.

most overclockers in Nforce4 MB use 2 1gig chips.

so why would mine reboot all the time with 2 diff brands and same specs 8(
I just dont get it hehe.

if I do by 4 x 512's I wonder which of these I should buy... if the 100 bucks more is worth it really.

I may just stick with my 1 gig for lil while... though I should send the pair back.

Well... I ran Memtest...
Sorry posted this on the end of the wrong thread!
So this is starting to look similar to Velturevo’s problem. I ran Memtest with two sticks of RAM in and there were 2K+ errors, but there are no errors when I run Memtest with just one 1GB stick.
I have 4 sticks total: 2 OCZ, and 2 Corsair. I had used the OCZ to replace the Corsair because I thought that the Corsair were bad. I tested each stick individually in slot A1, and they all passed Memtest.
When I get home tonight I plan to test a “good” stick in the RAM slots, one slot at a time.
Could this still be a Power Supply issue? It is starting to look to me like it may be a faulty CPU or MB.
It is hard for me to believe that the motherboard can not take 1GB sticks, as the computer experts told Velturevo. Also, I don’t want to have to end up putting in 4 512's.

so far so good... its working now! I posted on the corsair boards and the admin and another guy suggested I take the voltages up to 2.1 but not over and if both sticks worked individual but not together still then I had a slot or cpu issue... I did this and so far working great!

Ahhh, so thats why. Simple problem really. Your using DDR2 800 sticks, didn't occur to us you could have been running at less than the rated voltage. DDR2-800 sticks need 2.1 volts to run stably, while lower speeds only need 1.8V, adding the second 1 gig stick just pushed the ram over the edge. Why it worked with 4x512mb sticks ? The smaller the capacity, the further you can push it usually. This is why its recommend for overclockers to use 2 sticks of ram instead of 1 stick of ram equivalent in capacity.
Thats the reason why DDR2-800 is becoming a standard, as it needs higher voltage to run let alone boot. Well all better, sorry we couldn't help you out much. Those Corsair board guys think of everything when it comes to memory.
At least we affirmed it definitely will work. Well I learned something in ram troubleshooting today.
