    Avatar has a game

I'm downloading the Demo right now I hope it's classic like Alien vs Predator. Anybody hear of a game for that movie?

If you don't know what I'm takling about.. James Cameron, the guy that made Aliens has a new movie coming out in a few weeks called Avatar. I gotta think it's going to be great. It looks Amazing.

EDIT: God, this is going to take forever. The demo is 1.5 gigs and only coming in at 17kbps

Movie looks interesting but I don't think its going to be as big a hit as people think.

Maybe if they didn't give the entire plot away in the 3 min trailer it wouldn't tank like it is going to.

I think the movie looks ridiculous and think it's gonna be Battlefield Earth 2.0.

Has James Cameron ever made a bad film?

I'm not an expert on him and I hated Titanic but he has quite a resume. He definitely is NOT ewe boll or whatever his name is.

It's not a matter of whether he's ever made a bad film. He's an outstounding director. But that doesn't change the fact that he's already released a multi-minute trailer that showed 1) horrible CGI; 2) a tired story; 3) Jar Jar Binks-esque character design; 4) a ridiculous love story. And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head despite not watching the trailer for probably 3 months. There's a long thread about it somewhere here on Sharky's.

I can't find a single good thing to say about Avatar, other than the fact that James Cameron is doing it.

But seriously, I saw a documentary on Cameron making Aliens. He had to deal with a lot of VERY inadequate special effects but he was relentless. Perfectionist is is trademark.

Then there is Golum, I never looked at him as a Doll or cartoon at all. If Cameron is on his game he's going to set a new level of CGI like Spielburg did when he made Jurassic Park.

    At least I hope.

You know who else set a new level of CGI? George Lucas in Star Wars: Episode One: The Phantom Menace.

And look how that turned out.

Cameron is 100x the director Lucas is.. Lucas had one good idea in 1976 and has been milking the franchise ever since. Lucas should hire a guy like Cameron to direct the star wars films.

You know that character that woke up in a new body.. I thought that looked a little goofy actually and it reminded me of that book Old Man's War.

Old Man's War would make for a f-ing awesome movie.

    Avatar, however, not so much.

Anything, and I mean ANY STORY can make an awesome movie. What matters is who directs it. that is the most important factor in a movie. If Ewe Boll directed Old Man's War...you can imagine, but Avatar is a James Cameron's movie, so it stands a better chance then most of being great.
