One thing I"ve noticed in some sci-fi movies is that they always show people using the internet with virtual reality googles. Then they proceed to float through an infinite space with a blue backround with what look like flags flapping in the wind, which represent web pages (or urls).
Does anyone else think this as stupid. It would be impossible to find anything.
My idea of a future internet interface would be still using googles but searches would be in a large fancy building (like an expensive hotel lobby) and one would speak out whatever you are searching for. The information could appear in a number of ways I guess depending what you are looking for. If it was a book it could appear right in your hand and you could then curl up in a comfertable chair by a roaring fire (or wherever you prefere). If it was something like the like the local weather report, it could appear on a screen or something. Online gaming would be something else entirely but I think the Otherland series by Tad William did a good job of covering that.
