Question Is the built-in firewall for winxp good enough?

I was wondering if I should get a good firewall like zonealarm or blackice instead of using the one built in to winxp. Should I or does it work fine?

The Windows XP firewall is pretty good. Whenever I do a security port scan, I have always been safe when using the Windows XP firewall. I have also used Norton Internet Security 2020 which is good.

OK, thanks. Yeah, I ran a port scan with the xp firewall and they all were invisible and when I ran it with black ice one was shown as closed and the upnp port was shown as completely open.

Just remember XP's firewall does not offer any protection for outgoing connections. Make sure BIDs security settings are set to the highest. And if you arent using upnp, I would just disable it.

Black Ice blows chunks.. the built-in firewall in Windows is made by a company which has never made a firewall before.. ZoneAlarm doesn't block, it 'stealths' - so the bad guys don't even know you're there, plus - it's free.. You decide.

[edit] Sorry, should have said "Black Ice blocks, it doesn't 'stealth'.." The above statement about Black Ice is just IMHO. [/edit]
